About Top 100 Preps
Top 100 Preps is a short, organized list of emergency-preparedness gear: power, food, water, light, first aid, seeds, kits, and tools. The aim is simple. Help you get ready for outages, storms, and evacuations without wading through hype or buying things you'll never use.
How gear makes the list
- Proven brands and long track records. We favor gear with thousands of owner reviews or a long history in the field.
- Useful in a real emergency. Each pick solves a specific problem: staying powered, fed, hydrated, warm, lit, or treated.
- Stores well. Long shelf lives and simple maintenance beat features you'll forget how to use.
- Re-checked regularly. Items that go out of stock or slip in quality get replaced.
Start with the basics
If you're new to this, begin with the federal government's Ready.gov basic kit checklist, then fill gaps from the list one category at a time. Our guides walk through each step.
